The film is remarkably free of commentary on the politics of indigenous and African American artists struggling to have some control over their artistic creation and their future. Whether it is the role of politics in baile funk and Brazil. Some of the first artists rights legislation ensured Brazilian artists got paid by US record labels (notably Huberto Teixeira in the 50’s) not to mention that many baile funk creators are paid by the state to teach music to kids ensuring both a livelihood and the recreation of their music by others.
