Art can get messy.
Artists’ Legal Outreach can help.
ALO is a project of the Pacific Legal Education and Outreach Society (PLEO), an incorporated non profit. We are comprised of a group of volunteer lawyers and law students committed to working with artists and arts organizations. We offer resources, workshops and clinics where artists across BC can meet confidentially with an experienced lawyer. Every artistic discipline is welcome, all for the price of a donation.

YOU MUST FILL OUT AN INTAKE FORM TO SEE A LAWYER.
What is now the ALO began as the Arts and Performers Legal Advice and Workshop Series (APLAWS). APLAWS was the creation of the late Burt Harris, a friend and colleague to many in the arts, who for many years tried to get a legal advice clinic for artists off the ground. Without his steadfast efforts we would not be here all these years later.
We are grateful for the financial contributions of our lawyer supporters and especially Steve McKeon, longtime volunteer. Workshop support has come from the City of Vancouver (Cultural Services). We are also grateful to the Law Foundation and Access Copyright Cultural Foundation who have provided us with support to improve our copyright resources.
